Simon is passionate about providing legal advice that helps to add value to his clients’ businesses.  He has 15 years’ experience providing legal advice to businesses, both in law firms and as an in-house lawyer in the private and public sectors. Simon provides sound, understandable and relevant advice.  He is positive, practical and approachable.  He will work collaboratively with you, your team and your other advisers to help you to achieve your goals.

Simon was previously a senior solicitor at New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority, where his role included advising on the development and implementation of new financial markets (securities) law, assessing applications for licences, advising on the use of regulatory powers and engaging with market participants, including financial advisers, brokers, licence applicants and issuers.   Prior to the FMA Simon worked for corporate & commercial law teams at the law firms Kensington Swan (Auckland) and Herbert Smith (London), and as in-house lawyer at Transfield Services (now named Broadspectrum) and Beca Group.

Simon’s Qualifications:

  • 2008: Admitted to the roll of solicitors of the Supreme Court of England & Wales (non-practising)
  • 2003: Admitted as a Barrister & Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand
  • 2002: Bachelor of Laws (Hons), University of Auckland

Judy believes that being a lawyer is not only about providing sound legal advice but also building strong and trusting relationships with clients.

Judy has degrees in Law and Commerce (major in Economics/International Trade) from the University of Auckland. She has a particular interest in corporate and commercial law including in commercial contract review and preparation, privacy law, capital raising, company law, financial service provider licensing and compliance, and AML/CFT law.

Judy comes from a multi-cultural background and speaks both English and Chinese Mandarin fluently. This allows her to effectively understand and work with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Judy has diverse work experience including as a Judge’s Clerk in China.
